Rose Hill Mansion - The Banquet Room
Rose Hill Mansion - The Banquet Room, in the north wing. This room was just amazing - I immediately wanted to be the lady of the manor ! But seriously, it was so elegant. The dimensions: 29 feet, 8 inches by 21 feet, 4 inches, which make it the largest room in the mansion. Now a little bit of info: When you first see the walls, you almost think you're looking at some sort of silky fabric. But actually its wallpaper, a Nancy McClelland reproduction of a French Empire paper. The windows are hung with embroidered curtains with blue silk tasseled valances in tambour style. The American Sheraton banquet table, supported by reeded legs has demi-lune ends with large floor length drop leaves. The mahogany chairs with leather seats are a set of twelve, two arm chairs and ten side chairs, in the traditional style of the 1840s, which were part of the Swan furnishings. Over the table hangs a Portuguese crystal chandelier of 1815 with cut glass prisms. Between the two windows is an Empire mahogany pier table with gold leaf stenciling on the apron. Above it is a Federal gilt mirror. To the far left is a mahogany sideboard which holds a five-piece silver coffee and tea service made by I.W. Forbes of NYC in 1816. Rose Hill Mansion is located on Route 96A in Geneva, NY.
