F-4 Phantom II Society - News

Howdy!  Time for an update on Society activities.  Here goes…

The next issue of Smoke Trails is almost finished and ready.  We know you are eager for it to appear. Jack hopes to give it to me to post by the end of August.  Fingers and eyes crossed.  You will get an email with the link and password when it is ready.

PhanCon preparations are well underway.  We have been advised that rooms might become scarce due to several major events now all occuring during that week.  Right now there are still plenty of rooms available.

Note: the hotel website has a glitch in that if you are planning to come in early or leave late it may tell you no rooms are available. That is not true. Our discount is good for three days prior and after.  Whomever set up the discount code did not do it correctly on the website. Plus there are other glitches such as  it says the discount is $92.50 but the actual discount is $90.  And it does not show the King bed at that price.   If the glitches are still when you attempt to register, a phone call will be needed.   They have promised to make any necessary refunds if you have already booked at a higher rate.

Paul is working hard to locate new items for our F-4 Store.  He has just added some really really nice new Lithographs, plus he has found some limited supplies of other lithos and collectables.  I am sending this AB out so you can get first dibs on them.

Paul worked a very special deal with Aviation Graphics for the lithos.  When you check them out do click on the image to expand it and then use the "cross" in the lower right corner to even expand it further.   I've uploaded smaller images to this email for a preview.

The new listings are going live as I send this out so you will have a head start if you log into the F-4 Store  or the Lithos/Prints section right now.

"MIG KILLERS" Pilot: Maj. Lee T. Lasseter and RIO: Captain John D. Cummings (Former VMFA-531 RIO)

And finally but certainly most important...

We re-elect the Executive Board officers each year.  The positions up for grabs are President, VP Operations, Treasurer and Administrator.  Elections are normally done at the General Membership meeting held at PhanCon.  While I believe everyone but Bob are willing to continue serving we encourage you to offer your services too.  After holding the job for several years it is nice to hand the reins off to someone else.  They won't mind others getting on the ballot.  You do not need to be present to be elected.  But you do need to contact Helen Thompson soon to put your name on the ballot.  Feel free to contact any of the staff with questions. Our contacts are all listed on the website under, yes, Contacts.

As you know Bob Kay was asked to step back in when Jim had to bow out for health related issues.  You will be glad to know that Jim is doing much better now but he won't be resuming duties as President, Dr's orders.  That position will be wide open come October and we really need you to consider becoming our new leader.  Please contact Bob to learn what the duties entail.  Email

That's all for now.
