I am a prospective educator, one semester away from attaining my single subject credential at California State University of Northridge. I obtained my Bachelors in English with an extended study in linguistics, also at Cal State University of Northridge. Currently, I am student teaching eleventh grade American literature at Granada Hills Charter High School. Growing up, I attended Crescenta Valley High School in the city of La Crescenta.

My affinity in teaching derives from an opportunity that came across my way during senior year in high school. I was offered a position as a tutor at an enrichment academy . The director had been a close friend of my mother and fortunately, I was able to attain the position quite easily. I asked myself "Why not? I need a part time job anyways!" Reflecting back, I realize it had been a blessing in disguise, for I was completely clueless of the fact that the job opportunity would later help me discover my love for teaching.
Being able to share my knowledge with students gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction. During my years at the academy, working with students in grades 1-8, I realized I wanted to expand my skills in teaching-- beyond than just the mechanics of English. I wanted to dissect literature, discover the meanings and imagery behind words, and teach English as a whole--whether it be for self discovery, empowerment, literacy, or self- refinement. Therefore, I am pursuing teaching English at a high school level, preferably American literature.
Having played the piano for fifteen years (I was initially a music major), I enjoy playing the piano during my free time. I have a deep connection and passion for music.
I am a tomboy at heart; I love to watch and play sports. During the winter, I snowboard on a regular basis (as many weekends as I can go to Bear or Mammoth). I enjoy shooting pool, playing tennis and going bowling. I love watching basketball as much as I love playing it. My favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers.
