I've been losing weight lately, in that bad way where I'm not trying. I'm not exercising and with Seth here setting portions, I'm actually eating about twice as much as usual....yet I've gotten so thin that I don't even have a quarter inch of body fat at my hipbones. Even my hair is getting thin. I feel sick all the time. I finally went to the doctor this week. His working theories are: a) a thyroid disorder - my mom has one...the kind where you lose weight....so there is a family history. But when he palpated my thyroid it felt normal. b) Celiac Disease.....this one would be ironic. I'm a vegan, allergic to vegetables. Pretty much all I can eat is bread. I used to joke that celiac disease is the one thing that could kill me. ....Luckily I've discovered that a ton of my vegan foods are already gluten free. But bread is my favourite thing to eat.... c) Anemia - this is highly unlikely, given I'm a regular blood donor and they check my blood levels every time. d) a breakdown of my liver or kidneys. I'm waiting on a series of blood tests to come back. In the meantime, I feel so sick I can barely convince myself to move. Seems like everything was tolerable, until I decided to do something about it. But waiting is so painful. It sounds messed up, but I really hope that one of the tests he ran comes back positive. I just want to have something to treat. That thing I said about eating twice as much? Tonight, I can't even convince myself to eat at all. I feel so sick afterward, I can't even stomach the idea of food. I'm trying, in small bits. Walking home today I didn't know whether to fall down or to run.
