- Completed in 1995, formerly an old railroad route between Elyria and Kipton, Ohio, that is popular with Oberlin’s cyclists, joggers, and dog walkers. Stretches 3.2 miles and was incorporated into the Lorain County Metro Park System as part of the North Coast Inland Trail bike path.
- A path segregated from motorized traffic for the use of bikes, sometimes shared with pedestrians.
The city of Minneapolis has bike paths in the streets, I figure it's their way of keeping bike riders off of the sidewalks. It can be a bit scary at times. Some of the paths are in between lanes of traffic. I took this picture while sitting at a red light on my bike. You can see where the path continues on the other side of the intersection. The lane to the right of the path is for buses, taxis, and police. The lanes on the left are for regular traffic (see notes for clarification). When riding down the path, all I can seem to think about is that I hope that the people in the cars are paying attention. People drive like idiots, all it takes is one dumbass to slide over into the bike path and "WHAM!" You're dead, or seriously injured.
Vans @ Beth Israel ¦ the Bike Path
The paratransit van drivers at Beth Israel believe they can sit in the bike path legally. That's what this guy told me when I spoke with him. He's wrong. The bike paths are "No Stopping Anytime" zones. Even "expeditious pick-ups and deliveries" are not permitted. He's just too lazy to use the parking space to the right.
