49 SQUARE MILES OF FOOD - SF CHRONICLE

The number 49 defines San Francisco in so many ways. It refers to the 1849 Gold Rush that pretty much put the city on the map. It's the name of the city's football team. The 49 Mile Drive takes you through the most scenic parts of town. And the city itself is made up of 49 square miles.
