Riders from the Southend Section of the Forty Plus Cycling Club meet, on Tuesdays and Thursday, in Rayleigh High Street at the top of Crown Hill and join others at the Rettendon Roundabout (the old Turnpike) and at an elevenses stop. As well as the Southend area we have riders from other places in Essex such as Hadleigh, Benfleet, Woodham Ferrers, Cold Norton, Burnham on Crouch, Wickford, Basildon, Billericay, Chelmsford, Danbury, Canvey Island and Writtle. We stop for lunch, usually at an Essex pub. Details of the runs can be seen by following the links above. Some riders come with us only part of the way.

New members are welcome. The Section Secretary, Graham Kirby, pictured to the right, will be pleased to hear from you. For more information follow the Joining link on the Fortypluscc website

Coronavirus

Following the recent government advice regarding social distancing all planned rides are cancelled until further notice.

Please monitor this website for information if the situation changes.

The Southend section has its own Facebook page ( Forty Plus Cycling Club; Southend ) for members to post comments or photographs. It is a closed group. If you would like to be added, please contact Peter Wotherspoon.

In memory of Phil Bowes Robinson

Sadly in March 2020 we lost one of our members after a long illness. Phil was extremely likeable with a great sense of humour. Here are some photos in memory of him.

Cognac 2019 - Semaine Federale

Keith has kindly sent me some photos of the Semaine Federale which took place in Cognac 2019. Hopefully this will remind you of some better times. See more photos here Cognac 2019

Punctures

The 2020 Puncture Competition has been abandoned for obvious reasons. We will restart in 2021 (hopefully). Last year's winner, Terry P, can keep the prize for a second year.
