Welcome! This is the official website of the Confederation of Sovereign Nanticoke-Lenape Tribes. Our union of the historically and genealogically interrelated tribes of Nanticoke and Lenape people who have remained in the area of the Delaware Bay since ancient times. This website was established to inform and educate both the citizens of member tribes and the general public about the mission and actions of this Confederation. Visit Our Online Museum and Learning Center To better educate the public to the continuing history and culture of our tribal communities, NanticokeLenapeMuseum.org
was established as an online museum and learning center to share the
history of the three Confederated Tribes. The expanding museum shares
and preserves our culture and history, while also speaking to some of
the concerns of the Confederated Tribes. | The Confederation Council The Confederation is led by a council made up of the Principal and Secondary Chiefs of each of the member tribes and the councils / government officials of the member tribes. The voting members of the Confederation Council are the tribal chiefs, while other tribal officials have a voice, but no vote. Chairmanship of the council rotates between the Principal Chiefs of the member tribes. In this way, each tribe has equal say in all decisions, which are made by a consensus of the voting Chiefs. |
