Volunteering

Like any Scout Group we are run entirely by Volunteers - from parents and grandparents to members of the local community wanting to put something back and help develop tomorrows future.
Volunteering is completely flexible - there is no prescribed minimum or maximum amount, or regular commitment. There is no need to wear uniform for most roles.

Current positions include
Executive Committee
    Group Secretary.  Requires 2 hours commitment every 2 months to attend the Group Executive committee meetings, send out the agenda, take and distribute minutes. Once a year we hold our AGM ( down the pub ), and need to send out invites, collate the Annual report, and distribute.

    Beaver parent representativeRequires 2 hours commitment every 2 months to attend the Group Executive committee meetings, represent the other Beaver parents, and get involved in Executive actions including fundraising, running the HQ

    Beaver Scout Leader / Assistant Beaver Scout Leaders ( working with children 6 to 8 ). Working with our existing team, this person/people works to create the programme, organises who is going deliver what evenings, help to run the evenings and special events, presents badges and awards. A gifted delegator can simply be the spokesperson for the wider team providing the central point for everyone to rally around. 
2 days of Training is required to start the role, and Uniform is required.
 
Assistant Cub Scout Leaders ( Working with children 8 to 10). Working with the existing team, decide and run the weekly programme, get involved in planning and running camps. 2 days of Training is required to start the role, and Uniform is required.
 
Assistant Scout Leaders ( Working with children 10.5 to 14 )Working with the existing team, decide and run the weekly programme, get involved in planning and running camps. 2 days of Training is required to start the role, and Uniform is required.
 
 Buildings Maintenance - helping with maintaining the building. Would suit someone who doesn't want to commit to set hours, is handy with their hands, or has a good list of contacts.
 
Grounds Maintenance - helping with maintaining / and or developing the grounds. Would suit someone who doesn't want to commit to set hours, is handy with their hands, or has a good list of contacts.

Skills instructors - If you have an interest in Climbing, Canoeing, Hill walking, sailing or other adventurous activities and would like to develop and teach that skill.
