quotidie 015 : 1.15 i thought staying in school today waiting 4 hours for my work hour was going to be a grand drag, of warm suffocation in the study room or the headache that comes with the desperate attempt to keep my eyes open. but it wasn't. somehow at break i ended up sitting at a table with people instead of an empty one, or one with a solitary desktop computer. i had initially planned to work on my sketchbook, but this boy and his sister were laughing in boisterous restrain, the kind of laughter that is shared only by siblings, to which others would react, "????!" eventually i loosened up from my sketchbook pursuit because i found myself too distracted by both of them constantly looking over at me. three hours consequently consisted of actual conversation. we moved to the common room because we couldn't talk loudly in the study room. i took out my camera and tried getting photos, to which the reaction was the flinging of hands in front of the face or at the camera. or, in this boy's case, hiding behind his scarf. people call him "slim", short for "salim". he's a funny, likeable character. restless like a child taking in the world for the first time. but i was a bit disappointed with his sudden change in disposition when the two girls in our little group of conversation went out to get lunch. he suddenly turned quiet, and when i tried to talk to him his answers were terse and he couldn't even look at me. later on when the two girls came back, he said, "you know it's funny, when you two left i couldn't talk to adriana at all, i felt awkward." hahaha. i have two photos of him, one i caught without a scarf in his face (the girls were too quick in reflex). but i chose this because it shows his character more.
