Christmas present time

With Christmas just around the corner, it's a perfect excuse to spend many, many hours with the Printrbot making gifts, right?
Like I needed an excuse...

Now I can't show all the cool stuff I've been producing yet, as some recipients do look here from time to time, and I don't want to give away the surprise. This means that I'll be drafting a bunch up and posting after Christmas which is a shame in a way, as I'm pretty chuffed with some of it, and want to show it off!

This little model is 'Enderman' who is a Minecraft character that my daughter loves. Frankly, I think he's a bit creepy, but then again I'm old so what do I know?

I chose the posable model on Thingiverse for this project, and just created a pair of eyes for him in 123d Design to make the model more like the images I Googled (I'm not a Minecraft player, so didn't even know what it was). The model was scaled up to 150% to give a 16cm model when fully assembled.

Arms, legs and head are posable, and I think the eyes finish off the model nicely. I've added them in a remix post on Thingiverse.

The 'earth' block he's carrying is printed in gold PLA and is included in the original model download.

What you don't see is the blu-tack holding the base to the print bed in the pictures above - when the block is installed, it makes him a bit too front heavy...if I'd thought about it I'd have stretched out the base a little.
