Family Pickle (365.122)
The only thing to do with the abundance of produce off the allotment - pickles and jam. So I made tonnes of jam last year, so am upping the stocks of pickles this year. My family are all like this, and the recipes all relate to a relation somehow. Its also a nice thing to do as they have to be put away to mature before you eat them and they are mostly ready by christmas, when everyone is at everyone else's house having a good catchup around the dinnertable - eating leftovers and pickles!
I went ahead and used some leftover brine from the BEST pickles ever (whose recipe I can't locate) to make another batch this year. I added to the brine based on recipes I found that seem to be similar to what I used last time. The big jar is cukes & onions, the small is one of the small yellow peppers I got from the market today as well. Not at all what I'd planned to use it for- but there was too much leftover brine to waste!
