Field of blue bells... We are done with our slow year... But not with our new way of life. I am so happy that we made it. We learned so much and first of all we learned they are so many things we need to learn about. We didn't stop buying from one day to the other... At least I didn't. Graham is a minimalist and doesn't buy much anyway. I got into the 'non-buying' stage little by little but it worked for me. I am happy with my progress because I stick to it that way. The easiest was the food challenge, just making everything from basic products. That was easy because so healthy I guess. It worked really well, I was so motivated and improved lots of my skills in cooking simply, in foraging in the city, in experimenting new food. Graham and I lost weight and the kids eat more greens and no industrial food. I made lots of clothes for the kids and me, gifts for family and friends instead of buying. I am still not that good in sewing, but I like it. That the thing I would love to have more time to dedicate to. We are using basic products for cleaning and bathroom products. No toilet paper, no cotton, no disposable tissues, just things I have sewn. That was so easy to make the change!!! Some friends still look at us strangely about those issues, but if they would try even for a week, they will be convince it is easy and clean. After a 'slow pregnancy', we even had a slow birth. I have a wonderful midwife that taught me a lot. I made all necessary wipes for the birth, and the baby. The birth itself was an amazing experience, so much energy, female bonding, and love from the papa whose joy gave me the strength to go on. There as well I learned a lot , how to use plants for me and the baby. I never felt better and so quickly full of energy, close to that little being. So... now the future is waiting for us. We have plans. Graham finally agreed! We will move to France to a house in the countryside. I am so thrilled because I am waiting for this for such a loooong time (several years in fact). We want to educate our kids in the nature and travel with them as well, so they'll learn respect of different cultures. I am so looking forward to this new life, new challenge for us and the boys! Everything is building up at its own pace. All I can say is I have never felt so strong since I am a "at-home mum". I feel good about the way we live, the part I play in it. I watch over my family, I don't regret not having a work in an office with a pay-check at the end of the month. I never liked office work anyway... Now my work is my life and my family. I would encourage everybody to make such an experience, because it will probably change your life (probably for ever), your view on the world and enrich you in a way you would not think about.

"Just wait, let me take a picture of you Dilly." "Why? Do I take photos of YOU before you eat your dinner? Hmm? I think not!" "Come on Dilly, just a moment, I only want to take a quick shot!" "Take my photo? Again? For goodness sake woman, won't you leave me alone... surely you've got enough shots of me now?" "Erm... well, you see Delilah, I am going to be taking photos of you the whole of the rest of the year!! My little project." "Whhhaaaat? The whole year... You're taking photos of me every week for the WHOLE year? " "I have already been taking your photo every week since January! Hadn't you guessed yet?" "I hoped you would grow bored... Humans are such inconsistent creatures." "Nope. You're very entertai- oops! I mean, very beautiful to photograph, Miss Dilly Dog. I'm enjoying my project. You'll just have to be patient with me Dilly." "My patience wears thin, puny human!" What we call the "boggled face" - a look I'm treated to every day at "doggie dinner time". We have a strict routine when it comes to dogs and dinner. Dinner's served at 8.30pm and if I'm late, I get a severe telling off from an angry, shivery and boggled Dilly, and cried at by a "weak" and squeaking collie calling me from his spot in the kitchen. Both dogs have to be sitting in their bed under the kitchen table before I'll dish up. Once dinner's ready, they skitter out, Dilly spinning circles at my feet, her big brother prancing on his back legs to peer into his bowl as it's lowered to the floor... I then make them sit and wait for a second, as Dilly's doing here. Finally, I say their names individually to tell them they can start. 30 seconds later and you can hear the bowls sliding across the floor as they each lick their own and each other's bowls absolutely spotless. I usually say Barney's name first - to give him a head start. Dilly may be tiny but she has a voracious appetite and eats more quickly than the collie! She will happily steal Barney's dinner from under his nose - and Barney lets her. Have to watch what she eats now though, I got back from university for Christmas 2009 and was horrified to see Dilly had got fat since I'd last been home. My dad had been feeding her too much and she'd been regularly stealing Barney's food. I'd always been so happy Dilly was a skinny Cav, it was hideous to see her waddling!! With the Cavalier's propensity to heart problems, I really didn't want her overweight - especially as she's no longer a youngster. Thankfully, over the course of the last year, she's manage to lose her extra weight and is back to her bouncy, boggly, skinny self again :)
