Transparent Watercolor Wheel
Featuring a detachable fold-out color wheel and clear guidelines, this unique book solves the problem of muddy blends, taking the guesswork out of mixing clean watercolors every time.
While the color groups of a standard wheel are shown, this wheel goes much further, organizing pigments into five categories: transparent nonstaining colors; semi-transparents; opaques; semi-opaques; and whitened and blackened colors. Detailed text explains how color groups interact, some resulting in dull blends, others producing luminous, transparent effects. Readers are treated to abundant examples, step-by-step exercises, and analyses of work by several of today's outstanding watercolorists
I'm missing a good green, but the plan is to slowly replace my colours with ones reflecting the palette I used when painting at the university, mixed with the palette I use now when painting. The colours on the outside of the wheel are novelty ones that are just useful to have. I know I have my old colour wheel from school somewhere, once I find it the process will go easier. It's hard to remember seven years back!
I thought this was so fun - the fishtank we used to do the fruit-in-water shots is outside the kitchen window, and this particular day I walked into the room and the sun was throwing a prism right onto the cabinets. Perfect color chart lines courtesy of the window blinds :) And yeah this is most likely the original 70s kitchen. BARFoLA. But it's a rental house and that's all I'm gonna say about that.
