An excerpt from the article: I went to a mart-mart store and acquired a new Marlin 917V. This is the “Plain Jane” version. A hardwood (birch or beech) stock stained to look like walnut, and all the metal blue steel. The mart-mart store requires any customer buying a firearm to do the famous “Walk Of Shame” while exiting the store, but they were nice about it, and the price made this minor inconvenience tolerable (Note.3). At home, I did the required TLC, and put on the supplied “Weaver Style” bases. From my parts stash, I selected a set of Burris Signature Zee rings with the floating; synthetic inserts and a basic 6-24X (Japanese manufacture) target scope. This completed the package. See this article for an explanation of TLC, and proper scope mounting techniques.

So the Nardi Classico steering wheel has been on the car for about a year and a half. I love it... I've wanted one since the early Eighties... but it looked out of place in the black plastic interior. So I decided it needed a little brother. A luxury option package for NB Miatas ('99 - '05) included a Nardi-designed leather wheel (with airbag). It was also available, apparently, with a Nardi mahogany shift knob. Yeah, just like that one. I also bought the Moss/Miata Mania radio cubby box with chrome clock. I'm less than thrilled with it. First, the cubby simply did not fit; it was too narrow side to side to take up the entire slot in the "tombstone," and too high top to bottom (though to be fair, that could be due to the specific aftermarket stereo head unit that came in my car). Also, the clock was fitted on the right side of the cubby, just where the shift knob obscured the clock face. Easy: reverse the cubby, right? Not so easy. First, the little rectangular receptacle has a tilt to it, which interfered with the stereo a bit. Fortunately, Miq is very adept with a table saw and we were able to trim down the cubby to fit. But eventually I'll want to replace it with a piece of sheet metal painted with black crinkle-finish. Or, let's be real, with a thin sheet of mahogany, varnished to match the wheel. The other trouble I'm having with it is that the clock appears to work only intermittently. It's just barely possible that this is due to a wiring problem on our end, so I won't gripe about it till I'm sure that we've done it right. But I'm giving serious thought to a 52mm hole saw, a Smiths gauges analog clock, and a sheet of luan mahogany cut to size...

The 2011 Report on Car Aftermarket Products: World Market Segmentation by City
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "car aftermarket products" for the year 2011. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.
