John Nelson 25th Alabama Co. K
Thu, 15 Jan 1998
My name is Charles Uren, my Great Grandfather was Elisha Nelson. I have not proved as yet that he was the Elisha in Co. B of 25th Al. but his brother was John Clifford Nelson of Co. K born 10 May 1847 and died 24 June 1918. These dates taken from his headstone at Shell Banks Cemetery in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The roster list his age as 32.
I have not found Elisha's grave to see if he has a Conf. Headstone, but have been told by distant relatives that he served in the Civil War. Elisha died in Biloxi, Miss. but his body was sent to Mobile, Al. for burial.
Thanks for the information and the Web site dedicated to the 25th.
25th Alabama Infantry

My ancestor was Micajah R Mullins. He was in the Wesobulga Pioneers. July 21, 1860 (2nd Corporal) along with his brother, Martin V Mullins, 2nd Lt. The Wesobulga Pioneers were pretty much the basis of Co F in the 25th. He officially enlisted in the CSA on October 19, 1861 at Wesobulga, AL and served in Co F, 25th AL Infantry Regiment. He worked his way up through the ranks and was eventually made 2nd Lt by Gen Bragg May 9, 1862. He died at Tazewell, TN November 30, 1862.
The dates for most of your sources for those in the 25th were after the date of his death so I understand why he might not be listed. I have copies of his service cards if you need to see them. I would like for him to be listed as he not only served but lost his life in the service of the 25th.
Thanks for your time and interest in returning my query. If I can be of further help in the recognition of Micajah's service, please let me know. Keep up the great work. I'll revisit the new site address.
