These simple devices (why didn't I think of that!) create pretty, as-easy-as-pie pastries. On one side of a press is a beveled edge for cutting rounds from rolled-out dough. Turn the press over, place the dough round on the sealing "teeth," and pat it into the concave form. Spoon filling into the center, moisten the edges of the round for a proper seal, fold the press, and--bingo!--out comes a uniformly crimped pastry ready for steaming, frying, or baking. My non-deep dish "Chicago style" pizza. We headed to a place called Old Chicago for dinner tonight. Partially on a recommendation (admittedly, of a calzone) and partially because it was one of the few places in Mesa not only open on a Sunday, but open after 9pm on a Sunday. Now, don't get me wrong, there was a tastiness level to the pizza. The crust was truly the best part, light, buttery, and delicious. But this was not a deep dish pizza. This was an extra thick crust with a layer of toppings on it no different than a thin crust style pizza. Ultimately, it was an okay dinner, but for the calories it cost me, it wasn't worth it. I could have definitely indulged in some ridiculously delicious food for what this one cost me. lol

Calzone's: one of North Beach's iconic restaurants. Its checkered tiling, outdoor seating, European feel, and Red letters caught me eye!
