2006 Mongoose Pro Wing Elite Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (20-Inch Frame)
With a stealthy, pitch black paint scheme, 100 millimeters of plush front suspension, and an advanced four bar rear suspension system, the Mongoose pro wing elite is ready to hit the trails right out of the box. Designed as a formidable and versatile trail bike, the pro wing elite is designed to tackle a variety of varied terrain with ease–including single track, technical climbing, and simply cruising around the neighborhood. The bike’s 3.5-Inch of supple, yet efficient rear travel and optimal overall weight will allow it to descend with ease as well as climb like a nimble mountain goat. To ensure that those thrilling descents stop when you want them to, a Tektro mechanical disc brake system comes outfitted on the bike. The advanced braking system allows for easy one or two finger braking, and the system uses standard bicycle brake cables instead of hydraulic fluid, so there’s no need to worry about complicated brake maintenance. Other great features include a durable 24-speed Shimano drive train, beefy double wall alloy rims, and trail hungry 26 x 1.95-Inch tires.

Early vintage mountain-bike
This was shot right in the early 1980's, after I built this bike and rode it up Bald Mountain in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. The bike was originally a single-speed 26" Mongoose Kos Kruiser, a popular frame used to build early "klunkers", when Schwinn frames were in short supply. I still ride this bike. The only changes are the addition of toe clips, an intermediate chain-ring to make it 15 speeds, and a considerable amount of gray in the beard. Helmet and gloves are also standard equipment - rocks are hard and sharp!

Founded in 1974 in a Southern California garage, Mongoose has always been an innovator. From the company's initial cast-magnesium MotoMag wheels to its current crop of BMX, mountain, and pavement bikes, the Mongoose name has been synonymous with bicycle performance. Mongoose builds specifically for riders, which is why the company's BMX designers aren't wasting time watching reruns on ESPN2. Instead, they're constantly testing their new designs at the park, on the track, and on the hill. This continuous experimentation is what drives Mongoose to cook up things like the Front Porch head tube, which lets you fine-tune the handling on Black Diamond series mountain bikes, or Freedrive suspension technology, which eliminates pedal bob and provides a super-efficient full suspension. Mongoose bikes don't just push the limits; they set new ones.
