Finds of the day
These were the find of the day. I was cleaning out the garden shed and behind a stack of molded boxes of crap were these 2 beauties. The black Rapido is in great condition, and I am planning on selling it. The Schwinn has a lot of after market parts on it and has been spray painted, but judging from the frame and the badge it may be Pre-World War 2. I haven't had the time to locate the serial number to research the right year/model. I filled the tires with air and started riding it, and it actually rides pretty smoothly. I may just do a full resto on it when I have the time. - Grandparents house cleaning Gurnee, IL
Schwinn & Shadow
Schwinn & Shadow
My recently acquired 1969 Schwinn cruiser casts its shadow on the garage wall. This made it to explore on August 14, 2007 but I guess it didn't stay there for too long. Darn! Thanks to everyone who commented on it or faved it!

Schwinn Bicycles
The legendary 100-year history of the best-known name in American bicycling. German immigrant Ignaz Schwinn launched the company that bears his name in 1895, setting the bicycling standard in the U.S. for decades to come. This lavishly illustrated volume is overflowing with original archival material, much of it from Chicago's Bicycle Museum of America, and specially commissioned photography. Pridmore and Hurd fully detail Schwinn's technical developments, racing history, and significant models including the Black Phantom, Varsity, Paramount, Fastback, and many others. Contains discussions of Schwinn's foray into motorcycle manufacture. Fabulous!
