- Rumbo a un pacto ciudadano
Durante estos días se ha avanzado en el consenso de que la llegada de la Caravana por la Paz con Justicia y Dignidad a Ciudad Juárez el próximo 10 de junio a Ciudad Juárez será el marco de un encuentro sólo entre ciudadanos para firmar, entre iguales, un Pacto Ciudadano por la Paz con Justicia y Dignidad.

El pasado domingo se realizó la concentración de la Marcha Nacional por la Paz con Justicia y Dignidad en el Zócalo de la ciudad de México, en más de 30 ciudades en el país y en más de una docena en el extranjero.

Emilio Álvarez Icaza
Emilio Alvarez Icaza Longoria (Mexico City, March 31, 1965) graduated in Sociology from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, with the degree of Master of Social Sciences Faculty of Social Sciences.
In 1990 he joined the Centro Nacional de Comunicación Social (Cencos) as Coordinator of the Communication and Human Rights. From 1994 to January 1999 was the General Director of the Center. In 1999 I was elected by the Federal District Legislative Assembly, Chief of the General Council Electoral IEDF. In 2001, the Second Legislative Assembly elected him President of the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City, a position he held until September 2009. During his administration was determined to build a culture of human rights and strengthen the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City as an autonomous body. He has also conducted various academic activities in public and private universities and has promoted the rights of women.
The Assembly appointed him Associate Free Access Fee for the important work for full social inclusion of people with disabilities. (2009), Mexico's leading magazine in 2009 named him one of "The 300 most influential leaders of Mexico" and the Organizing Committee of Gay Merit Award was awarded the Merit Award Gay XI for 2008, for his valuable participation in defense and support of the LGBT community.
He has received more than 50 awards, prizes and awards nationally and internationally . He has been lecturer in more than 300 forums within and outside the country, including the U .N . High Commissioner's Dialogue on Protection Challenges in Geneva, Switzerland; the Global Exchange on National Human Rights Commissions in Bellagio, Italy; the Current Situation of Human Rights in Mexico at the University of Montreal, Canada; presentation of the “Diagnóstico y Programa de Derechos Humanos del Distrito Federal” at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington, D .C .; the Human Rights Program of the School of Law, Harvard University; and the Executive Session on Human Rights Commissions and Criminal Justice, Harvard University
