Right behind the pedestal mounds is a 37m bend leading into the enclosure. Originally several meters deep, erosion and accumulation of forest humus has reduced the entrance to only a few feet deep. "Enclosure" Paul de Monchaux 2000 Southampton, UK. Enclosure' was commissioned under the Heritage Lottery Scheme as part of a ?4.5m refurbishment of Southampton's Central Parks. It is a four metre high Portland Roach stone sculpture that marks the far point of the main east-west path through West Park. The sculpture frames four skyline landmarks in and around the park.
