Welcome to 21st Century Teaching and Learning! This site has been developed for the professional staff of all Title I schools in Cabell County, West Virginia. It is the cooperative work of each Technology Integration Specialist working in these schools. Led by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steven Paine, West Virginia has initiated a transformation of its public school system. The goal is to provide all West Virginia children with the skills that will enable them to excel in a fiercely competitive global world. Among internationally rigorous curriculum standards, research-based instructional practices, and a balanced assessment strategy, the state has made a commitment to the integration of technology tools and skills in every classroom. The Partnership for 21st Century Skills
West Virginia became the second state in the nation to join the Partnership for 21st Century Skills in 2005. To date, eight more have followed suit to join a coalition of business, education, and policy leaders that advocates for instilling in K-12 students skills that go beyond traditional content standards to include global and civic awareness, critical thinking, problem solving, and technology literacy.
