FAA pulls out of BWI Roundtable and DCA Community Working Group -- July 18, 2018

posted Aug 26, 2018, 6:34 PM by MoCo Quiet Skies   [ updated Aug 27, 2018, 10:19 PM ]

Over the last few days, the FAA informed the DCA Noise Working Group and the BWI Roundtable that it will no longer participate in discussions about new flight paths and procedures with either group.  According to information conveyed to us through the BWI and DCA airport authorities, FAA stated that it is pulling out because of the Petition for Review filed by the State of Maryland on behalf of the former and the Administrative Appeal filed on behalf of the latter.

Our Congressional delegation has requested a written explanation from the FAA before considering next steps.

We will share more news when we have it.  Meanwhile, here are the articles about this subject that appeared in the Baltimore Sun (yesterday) and the Washington Post (today).
