Costuming: Monster Meko (as worn for Lordi concert Nov. 9, 2008) (b)
I had a ticket to see Lordi in concert, for their Deadache tour, at the House of Blues Dallas. My second time seeing my heroes perform live, and seeing as I hadn't dressed up for Halloween, I decided I was most certainly going to do so for Lordi! Alas, I was the only monster in the audience that night. But, I got to meet the band (unmasked! :O ) after the concert, and they loved my makeup. Amen took one look at me and said "Uh-oh, it's a she-devil!" When I told him my next project is to make "Man-Skin Boots" (referring to one of their new songs), he put on a semi-worried expression and took several steps back. XD Mr. Lordi liked it, too. He asked me a bunch of questions on how I'd done my makeup (liquid latex for a base, cream makeup mixed with crackles-as-it-dries "horror flesh" for color). He gave a tug on one horn, impressed that they had stayed put even after sweating through the concert (spirit gum is tough stuff!), and encouraged me to continue with my costume (I want to make the green part + horns into one prosthetic with more realistic stitching). When I told him I was going to make Man-Skin Boots, he was excited and told me to post photos on the Monsterboard when I've completed them. I commented that I didn't dare make them stilletos (as he'd drawn in the album's booklet), and he pointed at me and said "Platforms. They're great, they make you seem huge!" I agreed with him, and decided my old platforms would finally get their zipper fixed to be used in my boots. If my makeup looks a bit rough, it's because technically these pictures were taken the morning after the concert. I totally forgot to take pics beforehand, and as the band was out of costume when I met them, pictures were a no-no.

It took a lot of hassling to get him to dress up like this for Halloween but he finally agreed! The girls thought the costume was cute, the men had no clue what we were. Many people thought I was a vintage civil war person... How we did it Noah Calhoun Costume: White Dress Shirt, Gray work pants, Black Sneakers, Scruffy beard... all items he already owned or achieved so it was FREE! Allie Hamilton Costume: Dress: Vintage blue shirt/waitressing/housekeeping dress from eBay (about $15). I altered the collar, short sleeves and buttons to be trimmed/covered in blue floral fabric to look like her dress in the movie (the patterned fabric was free since it was scraps left over in my mom's sewing room). I painted a white buckle on the belt of the dress to match hers in the movie. Accessories: 365 envelopes tied together (yes I really did count out that many! about $4 at the dollar store) Pearl necklace and earrings. White short heels. Hair & Makeup: Bright red lipstick. Hair parted and pulled to the back in a low ponytail. *Note, there is one colored envelope at the top of the stack that is opened with the letter sticking out. I actually freeze framed the movie to duplicate the very last letter that he wrote to her. Total Cost of both costumes together: $19
