Coaches & HOD Information

Coaches' Responsibilities
  • Provide for the general welfare, safety, health and well-being of each athlete in their charge. 
  • Have copies of athlete applications on hand at all times.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with all information in this Info Guide.
  • Dress and act at all times in a manner which will be a credit to Special Olympics Northern California and the delegation. 
  • Report all emergencies to the proper authorities after taking immediate action to ensure health and safety of participants.

  • Attend all meetings as scheduled.
  • Refrain from possession, consumption and use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs at all times. 
  • Follow the intent and spirit of established duties, rules, and responsibilities established by Special Olympics Northern California and Special Olympics, Incorporated.
  • Provide the following specific services to the athletes:
  1. Supervision 24 hours a day
  2. Ensure that credentials are worn at all times
  3. Account for luggage & personal items
  4. Get to meals on time
  5. Report to competition areas on time
  6. Ensure that prescribed medications are taken on time
  7. Keep track of awards & souvenirs
  • Abide by the Coach's Code of Conduct.

The Head of Delegation (HOD) Meeting

Thursday, June 22nd, 2017, 6:30pm – 8:30pm (dinner: 5:30pm – 6:30pm)

The HOD dinner will be held before the HOD Meeting at the Segundo Dining Commons from 5:30pm- 6:30pm.  The meeting will be held in Games Headquarters (Regan Main) from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.  On Thursday night, HODs will stay where their delegations will be housed in the residence halls.  At the meeting, HODs will receive all final delegation information.  This meeting will also give each HOD the opportunity to meet the Games Management Team and discuss the details of the Games.

There will be a Venue Walk-through for all HODs on Friday morning.  Please meet in front of the Segundo Dining Commons at 9:15am on Friday, June 23rd, 2017.  Your tour guides will be Jeff Ruthenberg and Julie Rodriguez and the Venue Directors will explain each sport/activity at their respective venues.

On Saturday, June 24th, 2017 at 8:00pm there will be a HOD meeting at the Special Events Room at the ARC Pavilion (Floor Level) to answer any questions or address concerns.
