Any 3, 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drive passenger car. Maximum wheelbase length shall be no more than 110". No turbo-chargers, no convertibles, No pick up trucks, No vans, and no 4 wheel drive cars. If so equipped, all wheel steering cars must be disable rear steering. Baseline models only. Norway Speedway, Sands Speedway, Eagle River Raceway, TNT Speedway and any other race tracks with similar rules are eligible to race per their track rules, and if enough cars enter, a separate class will be run.
Driver must be at least 14 years old and have a signed waiver from a parent or legal guardian. If drivers are of legal age to have a drivers license it is not mandatory to have one in order to race.
Body and Glass
All glass must be removed except the front windshield. Lexan windshields are permitted, but if used, must include bracing with a minimum of two 3/8" diameter steel cars for safety and support. A screen may be used in place of a windshield, but if the car is equipped with a screened windshield the car MUST have a mandatory 4 point roll cage. Also drivers using screened windshields MUST wear a full face helmet.
All exterior trim including lights, body molding, chrome pieces, ect, must be removed. All doors must be chained or welded shut. Door bars are recommended for drivers door. The exterior protection plate for a drivers door MUST be a 5' long, 1/8" steel plate, 6" wide, and welded or bolted to the outside of the drivers door. It must be centered between 18" to 22" from the ground and overlap the adjacent panels. A protection plate on a 4 door car may extend past the rear doors. Rub rails are allowed. Hood and truck MUST be secured with hood pins ONLY and must use stock hinges. No other latching devices permitted unless approved by tech inspectors.
Cars equipped with hatchbacks MUST retain them as stock and must be welded, chained or bolted securely. Cars equipped with sunroofs must remove ALL glass and cover its roof hole with a minimum of 16 gauge steel, NO ALUMINUM and must be welded or riveted. NO SCREWS.
Bumpers may be capped with 16 gauge steel, but can be NO wider than the bumper. Bumper covers are recommended to be removed. Bumpers may be homemade, but are not to exceed manufacture bumpers. Sides MUST be wrapped or capped with rounded ends. NO 90 Degree corners or sharp edges.
Stock fuel tanks are recommended, and must stay mounted in stock locations. If stock fuel tank was located BEHIND the rear axle, it MUST be removed and replaced with a fuel cell or marine type tank. It must be mounted in the truck, (More protection from the bumper than below) securely fastened with two 1" x 1/16" straps in each direction, bolted through the floor with reinforcing plates or a safely constructed frame. Fuel cells or Marine tanks must be at least 10" forward from rear panel of the car and must be between both frame rails. NO bottom drawn tanks. Cars equipped with fuel cells or marine tanks must have a sealed protective metal barrier between the drivers compartment and fuel cell (Firewall). Maximum allowed fuel cell size of 8.5 gallons. If fuel pump is rewired directly to a switch, the switch MUST be clearly marked and located for shut off purposes. A Master shut off switch is recommended.
ALL flammable materials MUST be removed except the drivers seat. The full factory dash is recommended to be removed but is not mandatory. The factory bracing and metal of the inner drivers door panel must be kept in place. Drivers seat may be changed to a racing style seat. Window nets are REQUIRED on drivers side window. MINIMUM 4 point race harness is REQUIRED. A 5 point harness is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!! No cutting or gutting of the interior steel panels. Extra door panels or bracing is allowed. ALL AIRBAGS MUST BE REMOVED OR DISCONNECTED.
Rollbars or Roll cages are REQUIRED!! It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to construct a roll cage capable of protecting you from and injury during an accident. A MINIMUM of an "H BAR" style roll bar is REQUIRED. It must be mounted to the roof and floor. If "H BAR" is assembled with kickback balls it does not have to be mounted to the roof, but still securely fastened to the points at which it contacts the floor. 1 3/4" diameter by .095" wall tubing ONLY. Using tubing of a different size may results in penalty laps if you are permitted to race at all!! If you prefer a "Hoop Style Roll Bar" it MUST have 2 kickback bars which MUST be welded or bolted to the car. If bolted the cage must be securely fastened between 2 sandwich plates which must be MINIMUM 4" x 4" x 1/8" steel plates. Hoops MUST be full height and width of the car. Kick back bars must connect at a point at least 2/3rds of the way up the hoop. These are MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, but a 4 POINT ROLL CAGE is recommended. Bends should be made with a tubing bender or by using miter cuts, must be welded and gusseted (NO KINKS). NO portion of the roll bar or roll cage is to pass through the firewall or be attached to a point on the frame so as to stiffen the car.
If in the stock location, the battery must be securely mounted and or tied down. Top post batteries MUST be covered to protect from shorting out. Batteries may be relocated, but MUST be securely mounted with steel to steel tie downs. Batteries mounted in the passenger compartment MUST be in a plastic or steel box of sufficient size to hold the entire contents of the battery in case of a rollover or accident. If in the passenger compartment it also MUST be mounted on the floor closest to the firewall of the passenger side.
If the battery can be moved AT ALL by the tech inspector, you will be required to put it back in its stock location and must be securely held in place.
Stock as delivered from the manufacture with NO modifications. Must be capable to locking ALL FOUR WHEELS. Stock proportioning valves only, for car as manufactured.
Transmission and Axles
Stock as delivered from manufacturer with NO modifications. Must have Working forward and reverse gears.
REQUIRED: 2" MAXIMUM diameter exhaust pipe with muffler. Catalytic converter may be removed or gutted. Exhaust system MUST run from engine and extend BEYOND the drivers seat and under the floor pan. Penalty laps will be assessed if your car loses any part of its exhaust system. NO aftermarket LARGE BORE mufflers allowed.
Steering and Suspension
Stock as delivered from manufacturer. NO modifications or after market performance parts. Car must maintain STOCK ride heights. MAXIMUM of a 1/2" Camber. Cars should be prepared to run in EITHER DIRECTION.
Stock as delivered from manufacturer. Fan shroud is REQUIRED if fan is engine driven. NO ANTIFREEZE. WATER ONLY!!!
Fire suits are RECOMMENDED, but not mandatory. Full coverage clothing from wrist and ankle to neck REQUIRED. Cotton recommended, NO nylon or polyester. Leather or fire retarded gloves MANDATORY.
REQUIRED: MINIMUM DOT approved. SNELL approved RECOMMENDED.
Tires and Wheels
Passenger car tires ONLY. MUST be a "P" rated or metric equivalent. NO "LT" tires. 60, 65, 70, 75 or 80 Series tires are allowed. NO shaving, grinding, buffing or profiling allowed. Both front wheels MUST use stock length wheel studs. MAXIMUM tire size is 205 x 16" with a 60-80 series.
Magnetic STEEL, stock type wheels ONLY, NO after market wheels. Stock offset wheels ONLY. Racing wheels may be used but MUST have stock offset. NO studded tires or chains, NO mini donut or space saver tires allowed. Tire sizes may be mixed but tires must be either 13", 14", 15" or 16" rim size. Additionally, rim sizes MUST ALL BE THE SAME. NO mixing of rim sizes. To help deplete current tire inventories, snow tires may be used but ONLY ON REAR TIRES. Tech Inspectors decisions WILL BE FINAL.
Stock as delivered from manufacturer. Complete stock motor ONLY. NO MODIFICATIONS OR AFTER MARKET ENGINE PARTS ALLOWED. Unnecessary wiring, air compressors, smog pumps, heaters and air conditions components may be removed. Cold air intakes allowed.
REQUIRED: Numbers must be a MINIMUM of 18" high in a contrasting colors on both doors and roof. 6" number on upper right corner of windshield and on right side of back of trunk. Number MUST be reabable. NO DUCT TAPE NUMBERS ALLOWED. THERE WILL BE ONLY ONE NUMBER ALLOWED PER DIVISION ON A FIRST REGISTERED BASIS, PER YEAR. ALL OTHERS MUST ADD A NUMBER BEFORE OR AFTER, IF NOT YOU MUST CHOOSE A DIFFERENT NUMBER. LETTERS BEFORE OR AFTER 'WILL NOT' BE ACCEPTED WITH DUPLICATE NUMBERS. "AGAIN NO DUPLICATE NUMBERS"
Post Race Inspection
At the conclusion of a scheduled event, the top 5 finishing cars MUST report to Tech Inspection. At the time necessary checks will be made to determine that the car conforms to the rules. Officials reserve the right to interpret and enforce the rules and procedures as they see fit and that the intent of the rule is being applied. The decision of the Officials shall be final, binding and unable to be appealed.
All cars are subject to a minimum specifications inspection at ANY TIME. It is the responsibility of the driver to prepare their car FREE of defects and is in safe racing condition.
Rules are subject to change. All decisions by Officials are FINAL.
