September 5th Update

Scouters -- thanks so much for registering your unit for the Jamboree 2012 Fall Camporee!  After registration closed on August 31st, we have 18 Troops and over 340 participants registered to attend. It will be a BIG and FUN event for sure.

Leader Meeting: Please plan to send a unit representative (an SPL would be great too) to the Jamboree Camporee Leader's Meeting during the normally scheduled Jamboree District Round Table on Thursday, September 13th, starting at 7:15, at the Jamboree LDS Church, 8295 Jamboree Cir (near the corner of Jamboree and Chapel Hills),  Google Map: http://goo.gl/maps/7iAQR  We will discuss the leader's guide, the timeline, the sequence of events and camporee layout, planned events, campsites, parking, arrival and departure plans, first aid, safety, emergency evacuation, etc. --- and answer your questions and concerns.

Volunteers Needed: As with every camporee, the abundance of quality volunteer leadership ensure a safe, fun, and memorable experience of our scouts. We have most of the planning and staffing done -- but still need some help -- and knowing now that help is on the way ensures the best camporee ever.  We still need help for: orienteering (course provided), emergency preparedness, wilderness survival, mountain biking (course provided), miniature golf (course and supplies provided), frisbee golf (course and supplies provided), swimming (pool and lifeguard provided), fishing (lake provided), flatyaking (lake, boats, paddles, lifeguard vests provided), horseshoes (pits and shoes provided), campfire coordinator (guests, stage, and plan provided), prize coordinator (funds provided). What is your passion? How can you help?
The instructions and supplies are provided -- we just need your commitment to help.  We are looking for adults and senior scouts (Star rank and 14-yrs old and older) to help us provide quality programming by providing some time and expertise. Please visit our volunteer page (https://sites.google.com/site/2012jamboreefallcamporee/home/volunteer-leaders-neededand email me if you can help at gjb2000@gmail.com

Zipline and Climbing Wall Overbooked: Unfortunately, we have a problem caused by our own success in signing up camporee participants -- our 900-ft zipline and climbing wall is overbooked if everyone who registered shows up. To alleviate that problem, we have arranged to open the 900-ft zipline and climbing wall an additional 2-hours from 1000-1200.  We would like to offer this thrilling experience to as many scouts as possible while we still support our patrol competition, so if you have adults signed up (or scouts that are not going to be competing in the patrol competition) we would respectfully ask them to plan to zipline in the morning before the afternoon freetime period. To help with our planning, if you could let us know the number of zipliners or wall climbers you could have attend the morning session (without disrupting patrol competition), we can figure out if we will be able to support all of our zipliners and wall climbers.  Also -- if you reserved some slots "just in case" -- please turn those back in for a complete refund.  Please send this info to our camporee registrar -- Ms Spring Wilson at spring7000@gmail.com  We are NOT accepting anymore zipline or climbing wall registrations to ensure we can support the ones we already have.  It is simply a matter of throughput -- and we are taxing the system already with the numbers we have. The morning session only applies to the 900-ft zipline and the climbing wall --- the 400-ft zipline is fine for the afternoon free time period as scheduled.

Open Fire Restriction: Due to the high number and density of units/campers/tents/cars/trailers, the compact nature of our campsite, and the recent fire danger and wildland fires, there will be NO charcoal or wood fires at this year's camporee. Please ensure you plan for gas stove/grill cooking and ensure you have a fire extinguisher and fire-fighting supplies close at hand (and adequate supervision whenever there is a flame) for all cooking operations.

Camporee Website: Please visit the Jamboree Camporee website for the latest and greatest info to make your camporee experience the best!

See you soon!
