News for G2a3b1a8 persons

Because your subgroup so far is so small, there is really no news from researchers.

To put your subgroup in context, let me provide a short diagram of where you fall within the other relevant subgroups presently.

G2a3b1a (the L140 mutation) -- the largest G subgroup in Europe-- perhaps 80% of all G persons there. with 4 SNP branches
G2a3b1a1 -- the U1 and L13 subgroup -- a large subgroup found both in the n.w. Caucasus and Europe
G2a3b1a2 -- the L497 subgroup -- abt 40% of the European G men and not found outside Europe.
G2a3b1a3 -- the DYS568=9 which will likely soon be renamed Z724 or Z1901subgroup -- almost all in Europe
G2a3b1a4 -- A so far tiny subgroup recently identified.  These men have the L660 and L662 mutations.
G2a3b1a8  -- YOU!   a tiny subgroup -- the fourth  of those listed as based on a marker oddity.

It must be mentioned that we are working right now to define the boundaries of Z724 and Z1901.  .If they extend beyond the G2a3b1a3 subgroup in which they are found, we will need to find out the status of your subgroup for these to see if you are a subgroup of either. And, in fact, these are on order for a member of your group.

But otherwise there is no additional testing for you at present since all of your have the mutation that defines your subgroup.

It was really wonderful seeing the growth of this subgroup in our project during the past years though almost many samples were tested several years ago.  So far, all samples are from Saudi Arabia among seemingly Arab participants. This is quite unusual for our subgroups.  Most of our subgroups have cut across cultural and religious lines, suggesting origins that predated the rise of modern religions and country labels.  But yours is so far the first all-Arab and perhaps all Saudi group.
