The Innova 3140 Dignostic Code Scanner is an enhanced scan tool that is loaded with many professional features. If you are new to diagnostic scanners, this handy tool connects to your vehicle, scans various parts of your car, truck or SUV, and retrieves a list of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and code definitions from your vehicle's computer. But even if you're a veteran to scanners and auto repair, you'll be impressed with the new functionality that Innova has added to the 3140. This device not only scans your vehicle, it also allows you to freeze-frame live timing and pinpoint your vehicle's problem. Instead of having to recreate a scenario over and over again, you can now playback the timing to scrutinize all the data and make a clear diagnosis. Combine this with Internet connectivity and the ability to interface with a PC, and you have a powerful, professional diagnostic scanner in the palm of your hand.
The Innova 3140 easily scans all OBD-II
and many OBD-I vehicles
As government agencies establish more stringent emission laws, vehicles continue to become more sophisticated for maintenance and repairs, forcing professional mechanics, DIYers, and consumers alike to find easy-to-use tools for diagnosing their vehicles. Many tools have already been developed to access these powerful on-board vehicle computers, but the Innova tool is particularly simple to use and surprisingly affordable. It is designed to be used by almost anyone, from the weekend mechanic to the ASE master technician. The 3140 Diagnostic Code Scanner can retrieve diagnostic codes in all OBD II (1996 and newer) and some of the most popular OBD I (1982 to 1995) vehicles. The scanner features a unique, patented all-in-one LCD screen that shows 25 parameters at once without the need to scroll through time consuming menus. Separate LED indicators located below the screen provide quick OBD I/M emissions checks; so you'll know if you're ready to pass those ever-increasingly stringent laws. Innova built the 3140 to display on-screen DTC definitions and user interfaces in English, Spanish, or French, and the trilingual language selection is accessed via a simple menu command. This device can store diagnostic codes in its memory for off-car review and analysis. Additionally, you can connect the 3140 to your PC with the included cables and software to generate, print, and save detailed diagnostic reports--and even update the scanner via the Internet.
The 3140 links to all OBD II protocols including CAN (Controller Area Network). The tool captures and displays freeze frame data that will help you pinpoint and troubleshoot any problem. This device is equipped to retrieve the following OBD II diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs): Generic Codes (P0, P2, P3, and U0) and Manufacturer Specific Codes (P1, P3, and U1). In addition, the tool provides live data (view, record, and playback live PCM data streams), bi-directional testing, vehicle ID capture, and O2 sensor results.
The Innova 3140 can also perform diagnostic scans for the following OBD I vehicles:
General Motors: all 1982-1993, and some 1994-1995 models
Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury: 1983-1995 models with EEC-IV systems (KOEO, KOER, timing check, cylinder balance test, output state test, and wiggle test)
All-in-One Screen and One-Push Button Functions
Handheld diagnostic tools should put all the information a user needs right in the palm of your hand, but too often other models bury this data within the device, requiring you to navigate through multiple menus to find what you want. The 3140 is different. Using a combination of its patented all-in-one screen, that allows for viewing 25 pieces of vital information in three languages--English, French or Spanish--all at once without having to search through multiple menus, and single-button function access, users are guaranteed quick, efficient access to data they need.
Patented Emission Status LEDs
Over 30 States now use an OBD2 based system to check for emissions readiness, making it more important than ever to be aware of the status of your vehicle and to keep it running in top condition. With this in mind, the Innova 3140 has been designed with the ability to read the exact same emission information as these state-required tests do to see if you will pass the first time around. Built around a simple color-coded system where Green = Pass, Yellow = Potential Problems and Red = Fail, users are able to quickly diagnose potential emission issues with the 3140. Other tool manufacturers charge over $100 for this feature alone and a separate tool has to be purchased, but the 3140 includes this with the price of purchase.

The new Focus ST is Ford’s first truly global performance car. It builds on the heritage of previous Focus ST models in Europe and evolves it to allow drivers around the world to enjoy the exhilarating performance, unrivaled handling, addictive sound and muscular sports design Ford’s Sport Technologies badge represents. The Tangerine Scream concept car that will be on display at SEMA this week first appeared at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, while the first North American production Focus ST will be unveiled at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. With innovative design and technology throughout, the new Focus ST will be more powerful and surprisingly fuel efficient, raising the bar once again when it comes to handling too. For drivers who want refinement for everyday use but with exhilarating performance on tap, the passion and expertise of Ford’s Global Performance Vehicles group shines through and makes the new Focus ST the most rewarding and obvious choice. For those looking to race their car on the track, the ST-R is ready to bring it on. “The new Focus ST is a really exciting car for Ford,” said Jost Capito, director of Global Performance Vehicles. “It’s the first performance model to build upon the design and technology strengths of one of our new global production vehicles. It’s a car built for driving enthusiasts around the world, and they will not be disappointed.” Focus ST delivers the same driving attributes that make all Ford Sport Technologies models stand out amongst the competition. The chassis, engine, sound and comfort of the car are tuned harmoniously to deliver a truly sporting experience with a level of refinement rarely seen in this type of vehicle. These same attributes will form the genetic code for future Ford models bearing the ST badge. Purpose-built racer Despite its close resemblance to the Focus ST road car, the Focus ST-R is purpose-built for the track by Ford Racing in North America as a fully prepared competition car. It features a powerful 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine, FIA-regulation roll cage, uprated brakes and track-tuned suspension. It will be available to teams soon, starting in North America, to race in a variety of series. The all-new Focus ST-R has been crafted by Ford Racing engineers – with technical support from Ford’s Global Performance Vehicles group – to allow it to compete in a variety of series including Grand-Am ST, World Challenge TC and the Canadian Touring Car Series. Ford also hopes teams will race the car in key European series and at major national events such as the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Its linkage to the new Focus ST road car is not by accident. Focus ST-R will be available to order from Ford dealers in North America by hardcore professional drivers, amateur racers and track-day enthusiasts alike. Ford plans to broaden the car’s availability to additional regions in the future. “We’re thrilled to be taking the Focus ST-R from concept to reality for motorsport enthusiasts initially in North America and potentially around the world,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. “This is a competitive turnkey race car that will allow our customers to compete successfully in multiple series around the world with minor modifications. And it shows the ongoing alignment of Ford Racing with our Performance Vehicles development group.” Performance for the road or the track Focus ST is powered by the 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine, which offers an uncompromising mix of performance and efficiency. Ford’s lightweight, all-aluminum EcoBoost engine provides the power of a larger engine in a fuel-efficient smaller displacement using three key technologies. High-pressure direct injection, low-inertia turbocharging and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) all help to create an advanced combustion system that brings new levels of performance and fuel efficiency to Ford’s gasoline engines. Ford’s Global Performance Vehicles group has taken this technology and developed an estimated 250-horsepower high-output derivative of the 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine for Focus ST. Redesigned intake and exhaust systems with unique engine calibration deliver the ideal level of power and responsi

This scanner is specifically designed to work with all OBD II compliant vehicles (all 1996 and newer cars & trucks that are OBD II compliant). There are a small number of 1994 and 1995 model year gasoline vehicles that are also compliant. To see if your car is OBD II compliant, check the Vehicle Emissions Control Information Label which is located under the hood or by the radiator of most vehicles. If the vehicle is compliant, the label will designate "OBD II Certified" and will have a 16-pin OBDII Standard Socket. This scanner is compatible all OBDII and EODBII compliant vehicles 1996 and newer. Please Note: may not be able to retrieve all codes on some VW, Audi, and Subaru cars. This scanner is not compatible with CAN protocol.
