“What Does the Sun Sound Like?”

The totally true tales of a hearing daughter growing up in a Deaf family & culture

Full length 1 hour 30 minutes

Excerpt:

Growing up there wasn’t much difference between us and other families in the neighborhood. We all went to the same schools. We all bought our clothes at the warehouse and like most every other kid on my block I had 3 pairs of shoes. Like every other mother in the neighborhood Mommy made meatloaf or stuffed peppers and fish on Fridays and Daddy went to work everyday at the factory and drove a Chevrolet. So when people would ask me about it, I’d always say, “It doesn’t make any difference at all”. Now, I see it makes all the difference in the world. I am the prodigal daughter and Deafness is a lifelong umbilical cord I can never leave behind.

A professional award for 2012, presented by current Arizona RID President, Jack Van Rixel.
