39 of 365 Of all the Lego Town/City sets I have collected over the years, the Shuttle Launch Pad (Set #6339) is my favorite. I remember wanting it so much as a kid but I was really embarrassed to ask my parents to get it for me (as they had bought me plenty of Lego already). Over a decade later as an adult I found the set on Ebay from this guy in Germany. Its been in a box here at home for a long time, so I thought it would be fun and take it out this weekend for a photo shoot. This will definitely be the first of several other shots this year that will focus on my most favorite toy as a child. I still have two sets on my To Buy List - Set's number 6542 Launch and Load Sea Port and 6399 Airport Shuttle. Hopefully I can own them someday. The kid in me also dreams of going to the real Lego Land in Denmark!
bench Monday: how toys become real
bench Monday: how toys become real
Real isn’t how you are made, said the Skin Horse. It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real. My son and I love The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams, and very much so at the moment when he is always asking me how toys have a secret life to which he can't be party when he's asleep. I think this book perfectly explains how toys become real, it's how my most-loved toys became real to me when I was a kid. I tried to recrete the magic of the story in this shot at the point where the loveliest fairy in the whole world appeared and wove her magic so that the rabbit was able to become real and join all the live bunnies hopping and skipping and jumping. hbm and Happy Easter :)
