Alaska Resource Education
Alaska Resource Education is an Alaska-based non-profit dedicated to educating our students and teachers about Alaska’s natural resources and industries. One way we do this is by distributing Alaska Resource Kits that are filled with content on mining, energy and forestry. Along with the kits, Alaska Resource Education also offers a 1 graduate level credit course called, “Rock and Roll Around Alaska”. This course will give teachers the time to get to know their kit and its contents including the curriculum cd. This cd is filled with over 150 fun, hands-on activities for your classroom that will help educate them on rocks and minerals, mining, forestry, energy and more. In this course, teachers will learn hands-on activities from each module including: Paste with a Taste, Mine-a-Pie, Rock Identification, and other fun activities. During the course, Alaska Resource Education provides the teachers with meals and all the materials necessary for the course. Credit cost is $60 (credit is optional) and a $20 materials fee.
