President's Message

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Executive Board and the 2010 Conference planning committee, I’d like to welcome you to the 35th annual SC Association of School Librarians conference!

This year’s theme, The Future is Here @Your Library, has been a driving force for both conference planning and professional programming this year. This year’s conference features three days of great concurrent and pre-conference professional development sessions as well as beloved SCASL events such as the Exhibit Hall Grand Opening, Awards Luncheon, and Authors’ Celebration Luncheon. Sessions are geared to have each and every one of us prepared to be a 21st century librarian in an ever changing instructional landscape.

Be sure to attend the Opening General Session with keynote speaker Will Richardson, and the SCASL Business Meeting and General Session on Friday for organizational updates and officer elections for 2010-2011.  In between sessions, make sure to stop by the new Membership Pavilion area in the Exhibits hall with all of the traditional SCASL store materials as well as SCASL and ALA membership information.

Our conference would not continue to be a success every year without the continued support of our business class members and vendors. Make time to stop by the vendor booths and thank our exhibitors for their support.

I hope you are able to attend many of the wonderful sessions and events during the 2010 conference, and that you are able to leave energized, with a plethora of new ideas for your 21st century librarian tool box. If you need anything during conference, just stop by the information booth and someone will be glad to assist you.

As always, it is a pleasure and honor to serve as the SCASL President, please don’t hesitate to contact me at, aleblanc@greenville.k12.sc.us , if you have any questions or concerns!
