[4-9-1011] - Waiting For The Interurban
[4-9-1011] - Waiting For The Interurban
It's going to be awhile. Richard Beyer's sculpture 'Waiting for the Interurban' pays tribute to the old Seattle-Everett Interurban railway. Sections of the track can are still visible around town, a subtle reminder of a time before the rise of the automobile. I have always felt their is a sense of irony to this piece as the City of Seattle has spent much of the last two decades dragging their feet on how best to build a public rail system when in fact one was already in place some 100 years ago. The cool thing about Richard Beyer's art installation is that anyone is invited to decorate it as they see fit. Which is why it is all dressed up for a birthday party in this photo. The only rules are to leave decorations be if they look new or fresh and no advertising slogans or corporate slogans.
Day 9: Owned by a 4 year old
Day 9: Owned by a 4 year old
365 Days - Day 9 ------ When I was a kid, I absolutely LOVED Lego. It was the toy that had endless possibilities and made my imagination go wild. The Lego from way back then was all pretty much general purpose pieces that you had to believe was a different shape. The lego these days definitely isn't the same! They have curves pieces, rubber wheels, and even Lego men dressed up as superheroes! I was at a friend's house having dinner the other night, and was challenged to a "contest" by his 4 year old son to make the "best ship" I could. His ship is on the left, and mine is on the right. It's never fun getting owned by a 4 year old.
