 Why You Should Join Scouting

Scouting is aimed at encouraging the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens.

This is achieved through:
  • a commitment to a code of living
  • learning by doing
  • small groups working together under youth
  • leadership with adult assistance
  • progressive and stimulating programs
  • a sense of the value of service in the community
  • Why Sea Scouts?
Ist Darwin Sea Scouts is dedicated to giving youth an opportunity to develop and extend themselves to the best of their abilities.

As a sea scout group our emphasis is on water activities, particularly sailing and canoeing. However sea scouts also operate under the same award scheme and structure as other Scout groups and so do similar activities such as hiking, camping, abseiling and other outdoor activities.

For older scouts there is an emphasis on leadership and personal development skills. Every scout should have an opportunity at one of the youth leadership position during their time in scouts.

Scouts is not just for children.  Please talk to a leader if you are interested in being an adult helper or becoming a leader yourself.  Leader training is paid for by the Scout association up to VET Certificate IV level.

However, the most important aspect of scouting for both young people and adults is to have FUN and to enjoy life!!!
