FYA (For Your Awareness)...

ATM Card Fraud...

A wife called her husband from a Pay telephone to say that she lost her bag to hear that the he has already messaged the PIN back.

When they rushed down to the bank, the staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to SMS her husband listed in the directory and got hold of their PIN number. Within twenty minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people on your call list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Mom, Dad, etc., and very importantly, when sensitive information is being asked, CONFIRM BY A CALL BACK. Also, when you are being Messaged by friends or family to meet them somewhere for whatsoever the reason, be sure to call back and confirm that the message came from the right hands. If you do not reach them, be careful about meeting or replying who messaged you.

Blood Clots or Stroke...

As per Neurologists, the effect of Stroke can be reversed completely if they can get to the patient in 3 hours. This is very tough and only possible if you are able to identify it properly in time. Four ways to identify it in time so that the life is saved are:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION: Remember 1st three letters of the word STOKE; S, T, R.

1. S (Smile) : Ask the individual to SMILE.

2. T (Talk) : Ask the individual to TALK (simple sentence like "It is Sunny out today").

3. R (Raise arms) : Ask the individual to RAISE BOTH ARMS together.

If the individual has trouble with any of these tasks, then it could be a stroke. Seek expert medical attention.

4. Tounge : Ask the individual to STICK OUT THE TONGUE. If the tongue is Crooked or it goes to sides, this is also stroke.

Cash withdrawals from Shops...

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has permitted cash withdrawals using Credit / Debit card at point of sale (POS) terminals (merchant establishments). The proposal is forwarded to the banks to get the respective Director Board approval and further implementation. Once implemented customers will be able to withdraw up to Rs. 1,000/- per day, at merchant establishments, irrespective of whether they make a purchase at that point or not. This will enable us to utilize 44,857 ATMs and 4,70,237 Shops. Refer Website1 and Website2 for more information.

Two-Way Mirror...

Please share this information with all whom you care for. Not to scare you, but to make sure that you are aware. When you are in toilets / bathrooms of hotels, changing rooms of textiles etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror or a 2-way mirror. They can see you, but you can't see them. There have been many cases of people installing such mirrors in female changing rooms / bathrooms / bedrooms. It is difficult to identify the surface by just looking at it.

Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface, if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail behind, then it is a GENUINE mirror. Else BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! There is someone possibly seeing you. So remember every time you see a mirror do the simple "NAIL TEST".

The reason there is a gap on a real mirror, is because the silver is on the back of the mirror (UNDER the glass) and in a 2-way mirror, the silver is on the Surface (your side).

ICE (In Case of Emergency)...

We all carry our mobile phones with a lot of names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, know which of these numbers belong to our closest ones.

If we are to be involved in an accident or seriously ill, the people then attending us would have our mobile phone but won't know whom to call. There are hundreds of numbers stored in it, but how do they know, which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? We have an initiative called "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept is catching on quickly. All you need to do is store the number of a contact person(s) who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" (In Case Of Emergency). Idea is of a paramedic who found that in almost all of the scenes of accidents, there were mobile phones with patients, but those around couldn't make out, which number to call. He, therefore, thought that it would be a good idea if there was a globally recognized term for this purpose, so that in an emergency situation, emergency service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person stored as "ICE". For more than one contact use ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

Let ICE speak for you when you are not able to...
