2. Create Site

Once you have created your account, you are ready to begin your site.

You will be prompted with a button to begin creating your site.

When you click on Sites you will be taken to the page where you can create a new site and see a list of the sites you already  have.  Choose Create a new site and it'll take you to the page you will use to name your site, set up your initial security option, and chose a theme. 

You'll also be give the option of creating your own page layouts, or using one the Google Site Templates from the Gallery. Make suer to Browse the gallery for more, there are numerous styles to choose.

  • Choose a site name. This will determine the URL that will be used to locate your site. Choose carefully, because the URL can't be changed once you create your site. It's also important to know, that even if you delete your site, you won't be able to use that name or URL again.
  • Give your site a short description. This may make it easier to find when someone does a search
  • Check the box for mature content if your site it only suitable for adults.
  • Then, decide the level of privacy you would like your site to have. You can always change this later.
  • Choose a theme. Don't like any of the themes shown? Google offers a number of themes for you to choose from. Select More themes to see them.
  • You'll have to verify that you are a real person and not a machine by typing in the code shown. When that is done, choose Create site and you'll be take in your home page which is ready for you to start editing.

You must choose a unique username. This name will be the extension of your site so you would be best to not make it overly complicated.
