Lesson Title: Destination

Reading and following Instructions- Can read instructions and follow directions on a map using BBC Skillswise

Students from 7 to 80 years old will enjoy this game from The BBC. It is bright, interactive and easy to use. I have used it with my ESL-Language Literacy and Numeracy students to consolidate a unit of map reading and giving directions. Many of the mature students who have very limited computer literacy were able to navigate successfully around the game. BBC skillswise also provides worksheets, a fact sheet, an activity and a quiz about instructions at http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/words/grammar/texttypes/instructions/index.shtml

Follow up/ Consolidation

I like to finish this activity with a walk around the school with maps of the school, giving each other instructions.
