Gas Bill I have entered 2 tariffs for my Split Date but the calculation is not correct  Have you got the tariffs the correct way around.  That is; the top tariff is for the most recent reading and the bottom tariff is for the previous reading  This can easily go wrong when the tariff goes down!!?
Gas Bill My Tier1/Tier2 Limit appears to be slightly incorrect  See the dates section concerning Split Dates and leap years  If this is a leap year, an extra day may be involved in Quarterly or Yearly Limits  Get the Split Date correct and the error will correct itself
Gas Bill What are the numbers after kWh in the middle gold section These refer to m³ or ft³, which make up the final kWh figure ft³ and/or m³ are converted to kWh, using standard procedures The Calorific Value is also required to make the calculation
Gas Bill What do the Comparison Indicators show me?  kWh per day (average consumption) and Cost per kWh (average gross cost)  The former indicates whether this is a heavy use, or light use bill  The latter indicates whether the tariff is high or low cost for your particular usage.
Gas Bill when I have a dual tariff bill the calculated kWh are split into decimals For a dual tariff bill, most figures are split into 2 across the tariff periods For accuracy the figures are shown with 2 decimals Rounding the figures to integers would result in an incorrect bill
Gas Comparison How do I compare my tariff with one on a comparison website  Use the "Extend to Year" button on your latest saved bill. Use the increase button to correct for light or heavy consumption.  Does the total KWh agree with that of the website figure. Change the increase until the totals agree.  Save each version as you go along. Ask yourself which bill seems more accurate or cheap?
Gas Dates If this is a Leap Year, will this affect billing Please look at Electricity FAQ for the full answer The short answer is to correctly set your Split Date to the last day of the previous Tariff You do not need to enable Split Dates to do this
Gas Discounts If I minus one of my discounts, what happens to it This discount is completely removed Never to be seen again - unless you retype it
Gas Discounts What is Tier2 and Tier2+ Tier2+ applies only to Electricity bills, so please use only Tier1/2 for discounts Apologies, it is simpler to keep these options in than take them out for gas 2+ involves Off Peak readings. See Off Peak
Gas General The OFF PEAK readings have gone These are only available for Electric bills
Gas General When I change from Electric to Gas bill various options change If this is a Gas bill then you need to decide what your units are The majority of meters are in m³ Also you need to input your Calorific Value and whether you want to see your kWh in integers or not.
Gas Meta What is the "Expand to Year" button for?  This scales the bill to a complete year, which can be instructive. Compare it to your own figures  Bear in mind that the costs are not updated for you; particularly relevant to per Bill items. There is no shaping of the consumption involved [Summer/Winter differences]
Gas Tariff Why do I need the Calorific Value This is necessary to calculate the kWh from the metered units The relevant figures must be on your bill somewhere Calorific Value is not needed for Smart gas meters, which show kWh
Gas Units What is the difference between Units and kWh If you have a smart gas meter they are synonymous otherwise not metered units are either in m³ or ft³, these are then converted to kWh for you ft³ units are in fact recorded as 100ft³. This is not important.
