The Great Endeavour

The Great Endeavour,  open to any road registered vehicle first started in 1988 as a bicentennial project. 37 cars participated in this initial event, traveling Toowoomba to Kooralbyn Valley via Birdsville, approximately 5000kms. Due to the huge success of this one-off event it was decided to continue with the Great Endeavour on an annual basis and the 1989 event travelled from Toowoomba to the Gold Coast via the Gulf with 80 entrants participating.

The 10th anniversary of Great Endeavour Rallies saw entrants travel from Ipswich to Toowoomba via the Barossa Valley, and the following year 120 vehicles ventured from Gladstone to Toowoomba via Ayers Rock, raising more than $200,000 in the process. 2009 witnessed 325 people raised $420,000 travelling from Mackay to Townsville via  Cape York.

In its 25th running in 2012 The Great Endeavour traveled over  4,500 kms over 10 days from Toowoomba, through western Queensland and North into the heart of the Gulf of Carpentaria, then back to Yeppoon, raising over $560,000. And in 2013 the Great Endeavour Rally was held twice, including the first time in NSW. Click here to view WIN TV's documentary of the event.

The Great Endeavour continues to be Endeavour Foundation's largest single fundraising event, and to date has raised over $4.5m for the charity.
