Mattel Hot Looks England Fashion Doll Chelsea Cloth Body 1986
Mattel Hot Looks England Fashion Doll Chelsea Cloth Body 1986
Mattel Hot Looks England Fashion Doll Chelsea Cloth Body 1986 Hot looks dolls were poseable 19” fashion model dolls produced by Mattel in the mid 1980s. Each doll came from a different country; this doll is Chelsea from England She has a stockinette body with wires inside so that it can be posed and a turnable vinyl head with painted features and long reddish blond rooted synthetic hair in a crimped style with bangs. Her eyes are painted pale turquoise; she has a scattering of freckles and coral lips. The doll has a stitched on coral jersey non-removable bra and panties. She is dressed in long, loose, white cotton knit top with turquoise horizontal stripes that has a boat neckline and below elbow length cuffed sleeves. This top is worn over a deep coral faux leather mini skirt with back snap. Underneath she wears a pair of turquoise poly knit stretch leggings. The outfit is topped off with an orangey yellow vinyl vest with knit cap sleeves and trim. In her hair she wears a turquoise knit headband and on her feet a pair of white boots with red sparkly laces. For jewellery she wears a sparkly plastic bracelet and white button earrings. The doll is in gently played with condition; her body and clothing are clean and undamaged. Her hair is silky and uncut just a bit flyaway. Her white boots have dark spots on them; this is a common occurrence with the plastic shoes worn by these dolls. I have others with shoes that have the same spots. Her skirt has a rub in the front near the hem. Her laces have ravelled at the top so just the inner white string is left. I bought both of my girls these dolls in the 1980s, I thought they were a nice alternative to another Barbie, the dolls are soft and can be posed, the clothing is colourful and very well made and each outfit has several pieces. Additional wardrobe pieces could be purchased for each doll in trendy colourful fabrics. I still think these are great dolls, they were produced for a very short time, there are 5 in the original series: Zizi from Kenya, Elkie from Sweden, Chelsea from England, Mimi from France, Stacey from the United States. There were 4 others released only in Canada Starr from Hollywood, Sachi from Japan, Steff from Australia and Shawna from Scotland. Collect all 9 starting today.
