Collectible Doll Fashions, 1970s (Schiffer Book for Collectors (Paperback))
Fashion dolls flaunted the best in clothing designs, and this book explores the flashiest era. Barbie*r, Chrissy, and Dawn-size dolls were outfitted with colorful haute couture creations hot off the runways of Paris, from the last vestiges of the "mod" scene to the early '80s "new wave" gear. Toy manufacturers mimicked the day's top dseigners to create outrageous, fun outfits. Shown in pristine condition, in unopened original packaging, this book is a gem for collectors and designers alike. More than 400 outfits are shown, many for the first time in any book. Each is stunningly photographed, and includes current market values for collectors.

1970's Imitation
1970's Imitation
This was taken as an imitation for my final major project. In this era photography began to get more inventive and whilst imagery was still off colour, it gave it such a strong appeal. The 1970's fashion took a turn for bell bottoms, bright colours and flared trousers. An ethic trend was set where influences came from Spanish fashion, Tibetan and Chinese style clothing also came into fashion. Disco looks began in the 70's with jumpsuits, afros, hot pants and spandex. Discos had dress codes which people had to conform to, which lead to increasing popularity in fashion. Fashion photography became increasingly popular with photographers such as Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin producing conceptual and vibrant fashion portraits.

The 1970s (Fashion Sourcebooks)
In the 1970s, fashion became increasingly individualistic for both men and women. Off-the-peg clothes were mixed with fashions from the previous decade and with ethnic garment and accessories from around the world.
Fashion Sourcebooks is a series of beautifully illustrated paperbacks presenting the costume drawings of John Peacock. The series charts the development of women's and men's clothing from 1900 onwards, with a volume devoted to the fashions of each decade. John Peacock's Fashion Sourcebooks are destined to become an indispensable part of the library of any fashion enthusiast, historian, or collector, and are sure to provide inspiration to any designer or student working in the performing arts.
Fashion in the 1970s grew increasingly individualistic. The ethnic look flourished. Colors became bolder and brighter, and loose, baggy clothes were introduced. Women's skirts gradually lengthened and became more flowing, while men's dress incorporated frilled or patterned shirts, wide ties, and embroidered waistcoats. Flared pants were worn by both sexes.
