Buffalo Nickel (1913 - 1938) Two Tone Gold on Silver U.S. Coin Tie / Hat Tack
Each one of these new and old U.S. coins is first layered in pure bright silver. Then, by hand, the figures of each are highlighted and brought to life with rich, pure 24KT gold. This breathtaking work, done exclusively by J & J Jewelers, turns these coins into stunning and true works of art. Each coin is hermetically sealed against wear in clear, hard acrylic coating. Each tie tack comes in a nice jewelry box.
Please Note: The gold and silver is much brighter and distinct than what the photograph shows.

1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar
1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar
I've been collecting coins since I was a kid. Back then (in the late 1950s and early 1960s) you could still occassionally find Buffalo Nickels, Mercury Head Dimes and Standing Liberty Quarters in circulation. And if you were really lucky, you might find an Indian Head penny. You could even go to the bank and give them a paper dollar and ask for a genuine silver dollar in exchange. The large silver dollars hadn't been made in years, but many of the large banks had a vault full of them that no one wanted. Some of these coins were almost uncirculated (like the one above) even though they were anywhere from 40 to 90 years old at the time. Alas, those days are long gone now. Once all the silver coins were changed to copper-nickel clad coinage in 1965, all the old silver coins disappeared from circulation pretty quick. But I still continued to collect. Occassionally I would take some of my earnings from a Washington Post newspaper route and ride the bus down to the Bonanza Coin Shop in Silver Spring to buy some older coins from the 1800s. This set showcases some of the highlights of my collection.

Heintz Art Metal: Silver-On-Bronze Wares
The American Arts and Crafts Movement flourished briefly but brilliantly during the early years of the twentieth century. It was during this era that the Heintz Art Metal Shop and its successor the Smith Metal Arts Company (Silver Crest) produced decorative bronze wares of the highest quality. Today's avid interest in Arts and Crafts furnishings and accessories has collectors searching for examples made by these two firms. This book provides collectors and dealers alike with a pictorial panorama of such Heintz and Silver Crest items as bowls, jewelry, trophies, vases, and desk pieces, as well as essential data regarding value, rarity, maker's marks, and company histories.
