DC Walk Feb 13 2011: Wheels within Wheels
Zzzzaaaaap. The portal has opened! We’ve finally done it! Our race can finally cross worlds and explore the infinite expanses of all dimensional realities! Quick, let’s go in. No, no time for that or this - let’s go! Zzzzaaaaap. Ok. We’re here! We’re....wait. We’re here. No, not “here”, but there. Where we just left. It’s exactly where we started out...but wait...look, that’s us over there. What the hell is going....oh god. There’s us over there, too! Oh my god. We’re all over the place and we look....sad. Infinitely....sad. Zzzzaaaaap. Oh. I see. Those people, those ones who just came through the portal behind us, they look like us too. We must...all of us...in all the unbounded limits of space, time, and reality, be ending up here. Our lives culminating in...this one decision. And we didnt believe in fate...
A friend of mine dropped this off today. He says he doesn't have anywhere to put it this summer, so I'm borrowing it... It wasn't my idea, but I'm not going to argue! This thing is pretty loaded. Full force feedback racing wheel with pedals and a 7-gear gated shifter. So far I've tried it out with Need for Speed Underground 2 and TOCA 2, and the demo for Colin Mcrae 2005. I can't get the gated shifter to work on either game, so I just use the Shift-Up/Shift-Down two direction setup. The up/down shift really works best for the Rally games though, where quick taps for shifts are optimal. The wheel has the paddle shfiters built in, but it's easy to lose them when the wheel is spining around in random directions during a rough turn!
