Vancouver Public Library
I know, I know, what is this, the 25th time? Behold! It's my obligatory Vancouver Public Library balcony shot, that I take whenever I go to Vancouver. This time, though, it is different! For one, it is seen through my Canon 15mm fisheye lens, for two, you can see my pool, and, for the first time... I have included the Westin Grand Vancouver! You can also see the lights are on at BC Place.. Olympic preparation maybe? It was announced just today that the province will be spending $500 million for a new retractable roof to be done in 2011. Should be interesting to see what it looks like from my balcony!

NYE Vancouver: Olympic Rings in Harbour and Olympic Colours Light Show at Canada Place
New Year's Eve from Stanley Park: A different colour each night for the Olympic Rings: red, green, yellow, white, blue. Matched on the individual sails of Canada Place. This continues into the new year, but not the nightly computer graphic displays of Sail Light Show or the red Christmas-tree display on Harbour Centre. Did a quick photo walk of a quiet downtown Vancouver early on New Year's Eve to see what was happening ahead of the general debauchery. Met up with just a few hardy souls walking, running or cycling the seawall in the rain and wind. Follow me on Twitter @susangittins
