While at the Mall a few days back I got this in change while buying a cup of coffee. I know thats where I got it because I didnt have any dollar bills at the time. I've seen these before but its been a long time. This 1935E says "IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND". I bet the banks will have another idea. I wonder how it got to me? A lot of history represented in this bill. June 10- Alcoholics Anonymous is founded in Akron Ohio. June 13- James J. Braddock defeats Max Baer at Madison Square Garden. July 16- The world's first parking meters are installed in Oklahoma City. Aug 14- President Franklin Roosevelt signs Social Security Act into law. Sept 13- Howard Hughes, flying the Hughes H-1 Racer, set the airspeed record of 352 mph. Oct 12- Luciano Pavarotti is born in Modena, Italy. Nov 5- Parker Brothers releases the board game Monopoly. This is the front of a 1935 1 dollar silver certificate that has hawaii stamped on it and appears to be signed by general McArthur on VJ Day Aug 22, 1945. Has Anyone seen anything similar and perhaps let me know if it is authentic.
