186 Squadron is based in Newent Community Centre and is part of Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing, which in turn is a part of a national organisation called the Air Training Corps - or ATC. The ATC is sponsored and supported by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and has been around since 1941.
The Air Cadet organisation is a uniformed youth organisation for 12 to 18 year olds and if you join you can have the chance to fly, glide, shoot, take part in sports, develop skills to lead expeditions, visit foreign countries, achieve the Duke of Edinburgh awards, and learn about aviation and aerospace leading to a BTEC award. All this and more whilst making new friends!
Our facilities include a main room for lessons and parades, an annex for all types of project work and a basketball court used for drill as well as games. We meet Mondays and Thursdays from 1900 to 2115. There are also regular weekend activities such as walking expeditions  community events and first aid courses.

Assume that every night is a parade night in working blue uniform unless informed otherwise. Check the Facebook group as well.

If you are aged 12 - 18 and are interested in joining please contact us with your name, date of birth and contact details so we can get in touch with you, please note we are not a recruitment organisation for the RAF.
If you are over 20 then you can join as a member of staff where you can supervise and participate in the same activities as the cadets.
Without our staff, who are all volunteers, we would not be able to offer the wide range of activities we do. New staff as well as new cadets are always welcome.
