Listed in Hartland, Windsor County in 1791 census with four other free persons in the household.
In Vermont Warnings Out, Vol. 2, compiled by Alden Rollins, Ned Freeman (“a Black man”) and family were warned out of Bethel, Windsor County, 29 Nov. 1810. The next listing is for Naomi Freeman and family. Naomi is listed with Ned Freeman, but their relationship is unclear; the constable read the warrant separately to each of them. I checked the microfilm for these Bethel records and, while the film is nearly impossible to read, I believe it says Ned Freeman, a “Black Man” and Naomi Freeman and family, were warned out. There is also a warning out in Hartland of Naomi Freeman on 31 Dec. 1806.
Could he be the Edmund Freeman listed in the Vermont Revolutionary War roster as serving in the same company as Jeptha Sharp? Could he be the Edward Freeman who married Susannah Dolbe of Braintree, Orange County, VT in February 1808?
