Listed in Orwell, Rutland County (now Addison County) in 1791 census with three other free persons in his household.
A History of the Town of Orwell, Vermont compiled by the Orwell Historical Society (1988), has a list of men taking the Freeman’s Oath and the Oath of Allegiance 12 Dec. 1787 in Orwell; John McMannors is in that list.
He does not appear to have served in the Revolutionary War, but the Vermont Roster for the War of 1812-1814, lists a John McMannas, Corporal, served in company of late Capt. J. Brooks, commanded by Lieut. John I. Cromwell, Corps of U.S. Artillery; on Muster Roll from April 30, 1814 to June 30, 1814.
