There is a long story on this bike. First of all... I apparently went through this cowboy phase at the time i got into BMX. Funny enough I currently can't get enough of Gunsmoke or Louis L'Amour books. Anyhow. My family wasn't rich by any means growing up and sadly enough I wanted to race BMX bikes and most good BMX bikes were at least $1000. BUT I HAD TO RACE. So, I am riding around the neighborhood on my junker bike and I roll pass the man's house around the block named Danny. He had two daughters younger than me. He has his garage open and I spot this BAD ASS BMX bike in his garage. BAM!!! I'm thinkin.... What in the hell is he doing with this bike? He has two very young daughters and they aint racing this bike. PFFT. I roll up to his door. Knock. Danny answers the door. I say. "Hey. You got this bike in your garage. Who's is it? and do you want to sell it?" Danny is a really nice man. Salt of the earth type guy. He say... "Well, I picked it up off a friend of a friend. I just got it for one of my girls to ride around but if you really want it I will sell it to you." "HOW MUCH!!!!!!!" "I'll sell it to you for what I paid for it. $50" okay. when he says this. I completely JUMP OUT OF MY BODY! This is a $1000 bike. and i am getting it for $50. The Gods are looking out for me finally. I say "I do not have $50. Let me go ask my parents or I can mow your yard." I cant really remember how the transaction took place but later that night I had this bike in my house (I do remember mowing his yard.). But that day was the happiest day of ,my life. So, I am telling everyone that this is a $1000 bike. They play along thinking I do not know what I am talking about. If you look in the picture you can see the tires are dry rotted. So Danny wants to help me get the bike squared away. So he takes me to the BMX track. We tell the clerk we need to get some tires and he tells the guy... ""Scott keeps telling me this is an expensive bike but I just play along with him." The clerk says "yeah.. that is about a $1200 bike.. And actually it looks like Billy's or whoever this rich kid is.... that had his bike stolen." Yep. Danny bought the bike from a guy that got it from some guy and it was under a trailer. It was a STOLEN BIKE. Poor Danny. POOR ME! So... They talk, unbeknown to me as I daydream about the greatest bike in the universe like PEE WEES BIG ADVENTURE. We get back home and my mom tells me that the bike is stolen and the cops might come by and get it. I awake the next day and my Mom is basically crying at my bed. The sheriff came and took the bike. My parents tried to buy it but the sheriff said it was property of the insurance company. I was crushed to say the least. I prolly cried for a week straight as did my mom. Well about 5 years later my dad and mom finally had good jobs and just before Christmas my dad said that he was taking me to the bike shop and I could build a my dream BMX bike from any of the parts I wanted. It was Awesome. And a great memory. I built a bad ass GT.. Pictured in this section. Tank God for awesome parents.
